dconstruct is a reverse engineering tool designed for the DC Script files used in The Last of Us Part II. DC Script is a scripting language employed by Naughty Dog, and its compiled .bin files contain game logic. This tool disassembles these binary files into human-readable assembly and attempts to decompile them into C-like pseudo code, aiding mod developers in understanding the game’s internal workings.

Technically, dconstruct comprises a disassembler and an experimental decompiler. The disassembler translates bytecode into assembly output with labels and symbol tables, optionally generating control flow graphs. The decompiler reconstructs pseudo code based on control flow analysis and applies optimizations such as function inlining, loop transformations, and pattern matching. The tool also supports editing structure members via command-line arguments, facilitating value modifications for mod creation.

However, according to the README, the decompiler is in an experimental state. Not all functions can be decompiled successfully, some type inferences may be inaccurate, and certain control structures are handled imperfectly. Additionally, string replacement is unsupported, and output may contain redundant code. These limitations mean that while dconstruct is a powerful aid, its output should be used with verification.
