This project is a mod that transplants Skate 3’s skateboarding into GTA: San Andreas on Windows, targeting the classic PC release at version 1.0 US with an ASI Loader and ModLoader. Pressing J or the L3+R3 controller combo puts CJ on a skateboard driven by the Skate 3 engine, using its camera, controls, tricks, grinds and bails while riding San Andreas’ own streets and collision data. No game files are bundled; the setup asks for the user’s own copies of both games and builds what it needs from them.

Technically, the project is split into parts: a C++ ASI plugin on the game side built on plugin-sdk; a 32-bit Rust DLL wrapping the Skate engine behind a C API; and the Skate engine portion taken from the 2010 Rust Rewrite Mashup, with its licence, notice and small local changes. Setup uses vgmstream to decode Skate 3 audio, and gtasa-open-downgrader to bring San Andreas to 1.0 US. The README also suggests dropping DXVK’s d3d9.dll into the game folder if Alt+Tab causes a black screen.

A v1.1 update has been released, with a player setup script and a distribution zip. The README states that skating may stop by itself or behave strangely, in which case Ctrl+J restarts the Skate engine in about ten seconds without restarting the game. Those behaviour notes are the README’s claims, and stability may still vary by environment. This is an unofficial fan project, not affiliated with EA or Rockstar Games, and it requires users to own both games.
