This project is a research-oriented mod for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord that aims to bring Half Sword’s physics-driven melee feel into the player’s infantry combat. According to the README, holding a button lets the mouse move the arm, swings come from mouse motion, and the body reacts as an active ragdoll, while walking and movement remain Bannerlord’s own systems. The project describes itself as a research prototype, paused since 2026-10-06, running only in a lab setup; it is not a finished playable mod and has no release build.
Technically, it uses C# and Harmony for the Bannerlord module and explores several routes. The active ragdoll is built with BEPUphysics v1 from Half Sword body values and written onto the agent’s skeleton each frame. A passthrough route streams the player’s pose, aim, and weapon through UE4SS Lua mods, which Bannerlord copies. A native-clip route converts Half Sword strikes into native Bannerlord animation clips. A separate Rust and rapier3d attempt re-implements the arm. The README notes varying progress, with most routes still experimental or not started.
The repository contains no game files, extracted assets, or decompiled code; Half Sword values must be generated by the user from their own install and stored outside the repository. The README also discloses that code and documents were mainly written by AI coding agents, with the owner directing design and testing. Overall, this is a research project documenting multiple technical routes and experimental results, with playability and completion still unverified.
