This is an independently written project introduction, not a reproduction or translation of the README. Documentation permission is unconfirmed or limited in scope. This project is an unofficial modified version of Valve’s Source engine, derived from the 2018 Team Fortress 2 leak and made public in 2020. Rather than a clean-room implementation, it ports and modernizes the existing engine codebase to run on additional platforms and support newer hardware and graphics features. The project uses the waf build system and provides build instructions in English and Russian.
According to the README, it supports Android, macOS, FreeBSD, Windows, and Linux (glibc and musl), along with ARM (except Windows) and 64-bit environments. It also adds touch input, VTF 7.5 texture format, PBR rendering, bsp v19 to v21 map formats, and mdl v46 to v49 model formats. Additionally, it removes some dependencies and enables achievements and the server browser to work without Steam. These claims are attributed to the README and have not been independently verified.
Development is ongoing, with tasks such as rewriting the material system for OpenGL rendering, dxvk-native support, an Elbrus port, and Bink audio support. Notably, bsp v21 support is described as partial, though Portal 2 and CS:GO maps reportedly work. Overall, the project represents a community effort to maintain the Source engine, but its leaked origin raises legal and commercial-use concerns.
