Titanium Dioxide is a fan-made game engine written from scratch in Rust, built on Bevy and wgpu, with the goal of being compatible with Titanfall 2. It does not include or distribute any game assets; instead, it reads maps, models, animations, sounds, effects and gameplay script values at runtime from the user’s own legally installed copy of the game and plays them in a new engine. The project is non-commercial, unaffiliated with the rights holders, and does not support any online play.

The current early public version implements Titan and Pilot combat, movement, weapons, abilities, several multiplayer and campaign maps, particle effects and sound. According to the README, many values are taken directly from the game’s settings files and scripts, such as movement speeds, weapon damage, recoil and spread. However, some engine-level behaviors, including wall-run curving, slide details and AI, remain approximated or incomplete.

Known limitations include: weapon reticles and scopes cannot be displayed because the RUI is compiled code; some refraction and particle features are missing; lighting, fog and materials are approximations rather than the game’s shaders; enemy AI is basic; there is no campaign or multiplayer; and testing has only been done on Linux. The README also notes that this is an early work in progress with rough edges and missing features.
